Hurricane Isaac strengthens, land impact imminent

Windspeeds inside Isaac have strengthened to 80MPH. Slight intensification is possible but not much additional strengthening is expected.

Land impact is expected late Tuesday night into early Wednesday.

Storm surge is another major issue. Low-lying areas in Louisiana and Mississippi can expect storm surge of up to 6 to 12 feet.

Isolated thunderstorms that have the capability of producing tornadoes will also be a possibility.
